About Vetronic Services
Vetronic Services was founded by Keith Simpson BVSc MRCVS MIET. Keith Simpson qualified from Bristol University Vet School in 1986 and spent the next 15 years in a combination of mixed and small animal practice in the South West. The last 10 years were spent in almost exclusively small animal practice. The business was first formed in 1992 and at that time there was just the one product. From these small beginnings has developed the business as it is today with a product portfolio covering all aspects of veterinary anaesthetic monitoring and ventilation. Since that time Vetronic Services has designed and manufactured over 50 unique products for the veterinary market. These products are now sold throughout Europe, Scandinavia, North America, Canada Australia and New Zealand.
In 2001 the company expanded, moving into new premises and taking on extra personnel. This saw a major turning point in the company's history as turnover and product recognition increased. In 2004 the company moved to larger premises in Newton Abbot and again increased the staff numbers. By 2010 the company had again outgrown its premises and so then the company moved to its current location in Abbotskerswell, a small rural location just outside Newton Abbot. Here we have 3 industrial units dedicated to the production and distribution of all of our products.
The company has grown steadily over the last few years and is now the only UK manufacturer of veterinary montoring and ventilation equipment. All the products that have been developed have been designed to solve a unique problem and to fulfill a need. Working closely with members of the veterinary profession Vetronic Services has forged strong links between the veterinary world and the electronics world to form an integration that feeds the needs of today's veterinary surgeon using today's technology. You will see this in our mainstream products, which have now moved to wireless support and touch-screen interfaces.
The company has always strived to innovate and keep up with modern technology. Keith is himself a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology which he joined in 1994. This unique combination of professional skills, covering both the veterinary and electronics professions, is the cornerstone of Vetronic Services and is what has helped to make Vetronic Services so successful.
Innovation is the life-blood of any successful company. Vetronic Services is always working on developing new products that push the boundaries of current technology. Old Fashioned Service
Vetronic Services prides itself on retaining old-style values when conducting business. So if we say we can do something then we can, and we will deliver on time unless there is a very good reason for not doing so. Our word is our bond and we can see no benefit in telling you our products can do something when they cannot. All of the products on this web site have been used extensively in practice and if you have any questions about their suitability to your particular application then please feel free to contact us to discuss it. We want you to trust Vetronic Services like so many others of you have already, so we're not about to let you down
No Mission Statement !
Don't look for a Mission Statement on this web site. You won't find one because we think Mission Statements are a bit corny. Everyone is going to tell you how wonderful they are, it's human nature. We prefer to rely on old-fashioned values and trade with truth, honour and integrity. We are proud of our reputation and we believe that is the best unspoken mission statement you can get. If you want an unbiased opinion of us, ask around at veterinary meetings or follow some of our links and contact the people there.
Keith Simpson BVSc MRCVS MIET
Keith started Vetronic Services in 1992 whilst still in practice and is now the Managing Director. After obtaining his veterinary degree from Bristol in 1986, he spent 15 years in full-time practice before deciding to make the company his full time job. Keith spends most of his time designing new equipment, writing and giving talks and running the company. Apart from all things veterinary and electronic, Keith's other interests include walking in the Lake District, running and music. Keith is married to Jill with two grown up daughters.
Jill has been with Vetronic Services from the start of the company in 1992 and is responsible for running the accounts, particularly accounts payable. Jill is married to Keith and they both live in Torquay. When not in the office Jill enjoys cooking, walking and Zumba lessons as well as working at a local school.
One of the most senior members of the team, Nik began working at Vetronic Services way back in 2005. He has seen many products created, developed, and finished here at Vetronic Services. He has enjoyed working on products from start to finish, and is always looking forward to the next exciting challenge. Nik has recently just married, and when he gets a spare moment, enjoys flying his three radio controlled planes that he built from scratch. He also enjoys historic buildings, Archaeology, and loves spending time with his cats.
Leighton started with Vetronic Services on September 1st 2015 to join the Production and Servicing team, and will help with the support of the ever growing number of Tafonius systems. Leighton, like the rest of the Vetronic team, is local to Vetronic Services in Newton Abbot, Devon. He attended Torquay Boys Grammar School, and has since had an electronics career in marine and industrial sectors, as well as working for Nortel Networks, a large telecommunications and data networking manufacturer, for almost 10 years. When he is not helping with the support of our veterinary specific products, Leighton likes to play football, snooker, golf, and go cycling. He is also the captain of a local snooker team, and member of the league committee.
Ann joined Vetronic Services Ltd in October 2015. Ann will be part of production which will involve helping work on our very own manufactured equipment here in Newton Abbot. Ann has always lived locally, and has a lot of experience in this environment having worked at Nortel, a large telecommunications and data networking manufacturer, for over 20 years. When Ann isn’t working, she likes to attend a local popular indoor cycling fitness class, as well as cooking, photography, and travel.
Derrick Went FIAP, MBCS, CITP, AMIMA
Derrick has spent a long career in software development, and has been involved with all aspects of a wide variety of major projects, both in product development and bespoke applications. His software development skills have been augmented by a number of major consultancy projects to organisations both large and small. Outside of work, Derrick has been a member of the local branch commitee of the BCS, having served as a secretary for 10 years. He spends any spare time has has in his allotment and he is currently researching his family history. Using his vast experience and knowledge here at Vetronic Services, Derrick is able to bring you the likes of the VitalStore software and help encorporate your feedback into the software.
Matthew joined Vetronic Services in July 2016 just as the company moved into the new premises in Units 1 & 2. Matthew comes from a strong background in Administration and is involved with the daily running of the business including accounts receivable and accounts payable. In his spare time Matthew enjoys squash, running, hiking and camping. Matthew is your initial point of contact when you call Vetronic Services.
Customer Liaison and Support
Fran joined Vetronic Services in April 2017 to add to the customer support team and with the special intention of strengthening our customer service. Fran is a registered Veterinary Nurse and has been working in veterinary practice in Devon since 1990. Fran will be the person who will gently remind you when your equipment needs servicing, arrange services for you, organise loan and trial equipment and generally support you with any query you may have. This is a new role within the company and a very new role for Fran, who knows only too well what a busy surgery is like, so she will always be happy to call back if you can’t speak to her when she phones!
